Two-Year-Old Program

The Two-Year-Old Program curriculum is designed to meet the specific developmental needs of the ever inquisitive two year old. It is our belief that children learn best by doing; therefore the 2-year-old environment is set up to allow maximum participation in classroom life. From the skills of personal care such as independent dressing, to self toileting and hand washing, the responsibility of care of self is practiced daily, as well as the skills necessary to care for the classroom environment, whether sweeping, mopping up spills or a myriad of other tasks.

The materials on this classroom's shelves offer a wide variety of choices to allow students to practice decision making by choosing independently the work that calls to their particular Sensitive Period, whether Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language, or Art. Our program is rounded out with music and plenty of opportunities for gross motor experiences.

“Any child who is self-sufficient, who can tie his shoes, dress or undress himself, reflects in his joy and sense of achievement the image of human dignity, which is derived from a sense of independence”       ~ Maria Montessori ~
