Thanksgiving Sing-along and Feast (2014)

The Holidays are rapidly approaching and each class has chosen their dish to prepare for our school-wide Thanksgiving Feast. From cranberry sauce to pumpkin pie, classes will be preparing each dish in the next week or so.

Tuesday, November 25 will start with an all-school sing-along in our Big Room lead by our music instructor, Brenda Mustafa. Songs will focus on that first Thanksgiving, Native Americans and being thankful.  Following the sing-along, the classes will put the finishing touches on their Feast contributions and tables and chairs will be carried out and set up in the Big Room.  At noon, we will all enjoy good food, good friends and good times.  We will wrap up our festivities by recognizing the generosity of our families in contributing to our annual food drive to support Gaithersburg Help.

The following Sunday, 11/30, we will have our first tree-lighting ceremony at 6:00 pm.  Our beautiful blue spruce has graced the circle drive for a number of years, in memory of VMS teacher Juliet Dowell.  This year, we will light the tree to kick off the season of lights: Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa. We will also use this event to give our families a chance to do some early bird book shopping at our Scholastic Book Fair which officially begins the following day.  Bundle up and come join us!
